Vogue England 

Vogue England is a very high end fashion magazine that is released monthly. It incorporates the newest clothing, hair and make-up trends and advertisements for high end brands such as Dior, Chanel and Burberry. The British edition of vogue has been published since 1916 and has featured some of the most famous people on the covers throughout the years including, Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne and Victoria Beckham. Vogues current editor, Alexandra Schulman, has said
“Vogue’s power is universally acknowledged. It’s the place everybody wants to be if they want to be in the world of fashion" and many people agree that Vogue is the fashion bible.

Vogue America was founded in 1892 by Arthur Turnure and started as a weekly newspaper. The first issue was published on December 17th of that year. Vogue is now world renowned as THE fashion magazine. Anna Wintour became editor in chief of in 1988 and has been in charge ever since, known for her trademark bob and sunglasses.

In our second lesson of current trends makeup term 2 we focused on a bleached brow effect, using concealer to create the illusion of an eyebrow that has been bleached. Branka demonstrated on model Georgina Hallgalley and then we went and recreated ourselves.

Starting on the eye, I used Urban Decay's Naked 2 Palette Eyeshadow in shade Booty Call, to create a shimmer base over the lid. I then used Mac Omega to go over the top of this to give a more matte and darker effect. Using Mac Brun, I shaded the crease and socket and winged out to create the effect of a high fashion look. Going in with Mac Carbon and Brun mixed together, I used a smaller brush to give a darker line across both bottom and top lash lines. I then used a mixture of Morphe Brushes Palette 35U's Gold and Bronze to create contrast over half the lid from the inside corner. When I was happy with this I moved onto the base.

I started with Mac Strobe Cream all over the face to give the base a glow to come through the foundation, I applied and buffed this in. After this I mixed Illamasqua Skin Base shade 06 and Mac Face & Body in shade C4 together and applied this to the face, I buffed and blended this in so that there were no noticeable lines. I then used the Mac Conceal & Correct Light Palette in shades NC15, NC20 and Pale Yellow to create a concealer colour. I applied this under the eyes and on any blemishes and then once again buffed this away so there were no noticeable lines. Once I was happy with the base, I used Ben Nye Super White powder to set it to her skin so that it didn't move.
Using Mac Contour Powder in Shadowy, I shaded on Georgia's cheekbones, jawline and forehead quite heavily, once again creating a high fashion look. I blended this to make sure it wasn't just a line of colour and looked like natural shading. Once I was happy with the contour I then used Mac Highlight Powder in Emphasize, to highlight the cheekbone and above the brow giving a shimmered and glowing effect.  When I was happy with the whole base I quickly touched up the eye and made sure that the colour and shape was right. I then applied mascara to both top and bottom lashes. Once i had done this, using the Mac Conceal & Correct Light Palette, I used a brow brush to brush this onto Georgia's eyebrows in the opposite direction to the hair flow. Once the hairs were coated with colour I then brushed them back the right way and refined the shape and definition to create a bleached brow effect eyebrow.
Using Mua Lipstick in True Nude, I applied this to Georgia's lips to finish the look.

Pros

I feel like over the year I have improved quite significantly in my work and  feel as though I am finding it easier and easier to recreate looks that we are showed in the demos. I feel like I matched all the colours well and created a look that suited my model.
I also feel like I managed to create a bleached brow effect extremely well especially for a first attempt. I was really happy with how it turned out and feel that it looked very real and natural. 

Cons

I feel that I could have possibly powdered slightly more to make sure that my model wasn't shiny in areas that I didn't want her to be shiny and I also think that I could have been a bit neater with the eyeshadow creating a better wing. I will make sure I practice this so that I get it right for next time. 

Health and Safety

1. Make sure all brushes, products and equipment are cleaned properly ready to use on the models skin so as not to spread any contraindications or diseases. 

2. Make sure the model isn't allergic to any products that I was using before beginning the look so as not to cause and allergic reaction.

3. Make sure my hands are washed and clean before starting the look.

4. Make sure my hair is away from my face.

5. Make sure I dont have any excessive jewellery on that could catch, cut or scratch my model. 

6. Make sure all my products are layed out properly and neatly so as not to cause a hazard. 

7. Ensure there is nothing on the floor that can be tripped or fallen over and all bags and coats are away. 

8. Make sure I am wearing shoes with a closed toe so as if anything is dropped it doesn't cause damage to the toes.

EVALUATION OF ASSESSMENT

Assessment Evaluation

In my first current trends make-up and hair assessment i feel i could have done a little more to show my skill and work off, particularly with the hair. I decided that i would completely recreate the Tanya Taylor Ready to Wear Show as i really liked the bold orange lip against the clean base and light eyes. I thought they really stood out to create a very summery and pretty look.
I did this look on bex and i feel that it went really well, i was quick but wasnt rushed when doing the makeup and was really happy with the end result. I think i matched the lipstick colour really well with the actual colour in the catwalk. I was really happy with the final look and think i worked really well and hard on it.
With the hair, i decided not to try and change it too much as i wasnt very confident with hair and felt like i didnt want to make it too complicated for myself. I felt that i could have done the hair neater, and used a serum to make sure the hair was smooth and slick rather than having loose hairs and baby hairs flying around. Looking back i feel like i could have added a little bit more into the hair and made it a bit more complicated and add some of my own ideas into it rather than copying it exactly.

All in all i feel like i did quite well in this assessment. I felt that i followed the brief and matched the making really well with the actual look. 

Autumn/Winter 2014 Makeup Trends --- Vivienne Westwood

Vivienne Westwood's Autumn Winter 2014 Ready To Wear show was an extremely interesting one, with lots to see, lots going on and extremely extravagant styles. The backdrop for the show was quite simple, with a slightly dirty looking red and white diamond flooring and a large wall of light casting shadow from behind, focusing all the attention onto the models. Each model had something different going on and a different story to tell. There were mad hatters, to tribal warriors. The collection seemed to be extremely miss-matched, with large amounts of different patterns, pieces of clothing and accessories in each look. There was a large use of colour, mainly reds, blues and purply-pinks in every look. Many featured long beaded necklances and over-sized avant garde hats. It is unclear as to what the theme was as there seems to be many different themes all in one. 

For the hair, almost every model was different, having a different style, look, hat or not. The most seen styles of hair were straight slicked and wrapped around the hair, hiding most of the hair and keeping it all tucked in very neat and understated, others were tight curls and afro style in messy and odd shapes. Many of the models wore hates made out of feathers and veils and also the appearance of an oversized top hats on a few models.

Following the trend of seriously mismatched and over the top looks, the makeup was once again different on almost every model. There were dolls, tribal warriors and just plain shapes used as like a face paint on the models in reds, blues and whites. Underneath this there seemed to just be a very natural looking base with little to no highlight and shading and nothing on the eyes. 

The dolls looks incorporated messy and odd bright red cheeks and a red ombre style lip fading to white at the edges. Some models had a red stripe withe a couple of lines across their forehead and some models had a diamond created using singular outwards strokes. Again not seemingly follwing any pattern and not necessarily matching with the look but it seems to work and creates an awe-inspiring look for the whole show.
