Colour Theory 

What is colour?

Colour is found when objects have different qualities of light being reflected or emitted by them. Colour can also be created by pigmentation found in dirt and earth.

Primary Colours

The Primary colours are : Red, Blue and Yellow. These are primary colours as they cannot be made from mixing other colours together.

What are Tertiary Colours?

A tertiary colour is the colour that is made when you mix a primary colour with a secondary colour. For example, Yellow-Orange

What are Complimentary Colours?

Complimentary colours are two colours which when combined together, cancel each other out. For example,  Red and Green.

What are Analogous Colours?

Analogous colours are groups of three colours which are next to each other in the colour wheel. For example, Red-Violet, Red and Red-Orange.

Secondary Colours 

Secondary colours are made when two primary colours are mixed together

Blue + Yellow = Green

Blue + Red = Purple

Red + Yellow = Orange

Warm Colours

Warm colours are Red, Orange and Yellow

Cool Colours

Cool colours are Blues and Greens.

What is the Monochromatic Scale?

The monochromatic scale is the scale of shades between white and black using grey. (Monotone)
